So, I’ve been looking at new glasses, I’m having a really hard time finding any that I like at all, but Kyle and I did find 2 pairs we liked at Wal-Mart the other night. I would like your opinion on them, they’re both quite different. I apologize for the quality and facial expression in these pictures, we were in a hurry!

Option 1

Option 2

Alright, let me know what you think!

4.13.10

  • jeans – Ann Taylor Outlet, $20
  • tank top – Ann Taylor Outlet, $10
  • cardigan – K-Mart, $5
  • shoes – Crocs

Occasion – video shoot in Anderson, dinner at Ivanhoes and a visit to my Aunt and Uncle!

I wanted to be comfy for the car-ride and moving lighting equipment, but also look professional, so I busted out 2 of my new items and threw on this turquoise cardigan and it worked! It was such a fun day. We had a picnic lunch on Taylor University’s campus, it was such a gorgeous day out. Then we headed down to Anderson to record an interview with a 95 year old man and his 93 year old wife (they’ve been married 67 years!), they were awesome, totally in love and super fiesty! We totally pigged out at Ivanhoes back in Upland (notice the last picture I’m making the U for Upland!), burgers, tater tots and ice-cream. I hadn’t been to Ivanhoe’s since I was little, but I remember my dad signed the receipt “Ivan Ho,” since that’s his name minus the last few letters!
After dinner we stopped by my Aunt and Uncles for a visit and to see my Uncle’s pottery studio. I was exhausted when I got home, and still needed to figure out an outfit to wear for an interview the next day, and try to get a good nights sleep. I also had horribly bloodshot and itchy eyes and I’m not sure if it was allergies to the pollen, or to the cat I petted for awhile near the end of the night. I’ve never been allergic to cats before, but it was after that when my eyes started freaking out. I would be very sad if I was allergic, I love cats!

4.11.10

  • dress – American Eagle, sale
  • sweater – Liz Lange, Target
  • shoes – Gap Outlet
  • earrings – Target
  • sunglasses – Gap Outlet

Occasion – church!

This entire outfit was bought in the 24 hours previous to me wearing it. I found the dress at American Eagle, Kyle and I both loved it, but it’s a size bigger than I normally wear, could definitely be taken in some, but works as is. The sweater is from the Target maternity line, haha, don’t judge! I rushed into Target before church and had exactly 3 minutes to get a little sweater and a pair of earrings. This was literally the only sweater they had that worked with the dress and how can a little cropped sweater really be specifically maternity? I like it. I’m cutting the tag off and wearing it all the time. Sunglasses and shoes were both fun necessities that I picked up at the Gap Outlet.

  • skirt – Old Navy
  • top – Wal-Mart, No Boundaries, $3
  • shoes – Crocs (comfy for a day of walking and shopping!)

Occasion – shopping at the outlet mall in Michigan City!

I did a quick change after the conference into this. I bought the Crocs for work, but I think they’re decent-looking, and of course really comfy. The shirt was a steal at Wal-Mart, one of several cheapies that I got for work, but have been known to wear outside of work. The day was a marathon of shopping at the outlet mall and then the South Bend mall and ended with dinner in Elkhart at Antonio’s! I’m normally a Goodwill girl all the way that occasionally picks something up at the mall, but it was nice to buy a few new summer items that are current with this season (which I love, all the vintage-esque details, ruffles and lace!!) and I got every single piece for a steal!

4.10.10

  • skirt – CAbi, thrifted
  • top – Izod, on sale at Peebles
  • shoes – Candies, thrifted
  • necklace – Simply Vera, on sale at Kohls
  • earrings – self made

Occasion – presenting at the Clement S. Stacy Undergraduate Research Conference at Purdue Calumet.

Thank you for all of your votes on my 4 choices of what to wear to the conference!  #4 won over #1 by just one vote. The conference went well and I felt like the outfit was perfect. Professional and nicely suited for the beautiful spring day that it was.

what to wear?!

I’m presenting at a conference tomorrow and can’t decide what to wear. I need to be professional of course, but I also want to look feminine and creative. So, I settled on a charcoal grey skirt that has subtle blue and tan pinstripes, but can’t decide on a top. Here are the options, give me your thoughts! I feel like the pictures really don’t do any of the shirts justice, I think # 4 looks great in person, but not so hot in the photo… Oh well :)

  • top – Merona, thrifted
  • pants – Daisy Fuentes, thrifted
  • shoes – Old Navy, sale
  • necklace – Wal-Mart, $5

I’m a server at a fine dining restaurant where the dress code is pretty simple: black and white. I love wearing white for the way it looks, but I’ve had enough unfortunate soy sauce incidents that I don’t wear white that often. So today it’s sort of boring and all black, but I got this fun necklace at Wal-Mart this week and was excited to wear it! Jewelry is definitely where most of the servers have fun with their outfits.

Exciting news! I got a new camera! It’s a Nikon CoolPix S3000. I haven’t had time to play with it yet to see how I can get good outfit pics with myself as the photographer, but so far I really like the camera.

WIW – 3/10/10

  • Top – Caribbean Joe from Peebles (on sale)
  • Skirt – New York & Co. (on sale)
  • Boots – delicious Argentine leather :)
  • Belt – thrifted
  • Earrings – thrifted

The weather has been very spring-like recently! So I busted out this fun skirt for work this morning! I tried it with a black top first, considered wearing tights, but eventually ended up running out the door like this! Tights would have been nice, not for warmth sake, but just to tuck my shirt into, as it was my shirt was constantly coming untucked :(

I showed up to work (at lunch I am a host so I can wear color, not just black and white) and me and the other host matched! She was wearing a bright yellow dress. We got quite a few comments/compliments :)

WIW – 3/3/10

My brother found my camera and dropped it off yesterday. So when I got home from work I played around with it and took a few pics of my outfit. I’m not very happy with the quality, it’s a pretty janky camera. But it was $50, you get what you pay for! Until I can afford something better it’ll do just fine. With that said I give you my first outfit post! I love reading fashion blogs, and know that attempting one of my own would force me to be more creative with my clothes and get more use of out of things I rarely or never wear.

The pictures aren’t very flattering! Oh well.

  • Pink tank top: Kohls
  • Black tank top: bought in Argentina
  • Grey sweater: Xhilaration brand, thrifted in high school
  • Jeans: American Eagle
  • Shoes: Target (for under $5 on sale)
  • Necklace and earrings: Simply Vera Wang from Kohls

Occasion: Going away party for a co-worker who is moving on to a different job.

I didn’t take time to take pictures of the details (jewelry or the lace-like cut-out pattern on the black tank-top). I really don’t like these pictures, but it was a fun outfit and good for the occasion which involved kicking back with co-workers on the porch at the restaurant, drinking and eating cake :)

My mom says when I was 18 months old I would put canning jar rings on my wrists, pretending they were bracelets.

I really like jewelry.

At home I’ve figured out some pretty ways to store/display my jewelry.

I found the necklace hanger in my grandma’s garage and spray-painted it silver. The earring/necklace hanger I made a couple years ago and it’s moved with me twice and been updated with new paint/fabric once. The wooden box my dad found at work filled with oil paints and brushes and I keep all my bracelets, pins, stud earring and my pearl necklace in it. The earring tree my dad made out of a branch from a tree in my Aunt Beth’s yard (he packed it in his suitcase and brought it back to Michigan from California!). The little silver box has my initials on it and I keep all my rings in it, it was a gift from my best friend Reneah when I was in her wedding. That’s a lot of jewelry organization/storage! I do have a lot of jewelry though, and I seem to keep adding to it…

Jewelry I’ve bought in Argentina…

One of my favorite pieces is the necklace on the second row, far left. I was in need of a long, chunky silver chain and this fits the bill. It’s made of alpaca, which is an alloy of silver, copper and tin. I also love the fleur-de-lis pendant I bought, the fleur-de-lis is on top of cow horn!
